Blog 6 - Integrating with Verisense

Our sixth blog post explains how data from the Verisense Sensor can be integrated onto external platforms.

Verisense is a fully integrated platform, offering a seamless process from data capture and upload to full access to all raw data, plus activity and sleep metrics within the Verisense cloud portal. We have designed the platform to reduce patient and sponsor burden to the minimum.

Nevertheless, we understand that users may wish to use Verisense Sensors within their own data capture platforms, and may not necessarily require the full features of the Verisense platform.

We facilitate integrating Verisense onto external platforms in three ways:

1. Via C# BLE API and MATLAB Examples

The Verisense C# BLE API is designed to allow for easy integration of the Verisense suite of sensors onto 3rd party software platforms. Similarly, the MATLAB examples provided supports direct integration of Verisense data to MATLAB based software platform.

Example code is provided to guide developers on tasks such as configuring the sensors, streaming live data, retrieving logged data and parsing the data. The Verisense C# BLE API allows development across the primary operating systems, and has been tested on Android 10, iOS 15 and Windows 10. The MATLAB examples have been tested to MATLAB 12 on Windows.

Full Details on the Verisense C# BLE API and access to examples can be found on GitHub, see here.

MATLAB Examples can also be found on GitHub, see here.

2. Via Bluetooth Commands

The Verisense Sensor communicates via Bluetooth 5. For users looking to push Verisense data directly onto their own platforms, we have developed documentation detailing how to connect data from the Verisense Sensor directly onto external, third-party platforms using Bluetooth.

With both the above methods, users get the full benefits of using the Verisense Sensor (clinical grade data, long battery life, ISO 13485:2016 certified), while still having the ability to develop their own communication protocols.

3. Via Amazon Web Server (AWS) APIs

Verisense allows for automated data capture and upload to the Verisense Cloud using WiFi or cellular communications. After the initial setup, no action is required on the part of the trial manager or participants.

Verisense data is routed via AWS to the Verisense Cloud. All Verisense data can be stored in AWS in a standard and accessible data structure. AWS provides APIs that essentially allow it to act as a gateway to transfer data onto other external platforms.

With this method, users retain the automated data capture communication features of Verisense and can use this to gather data directly onto their platform. In addition, users have the confidence of knowing that AWS complies with the most relevant privacy and security standards worldwide.
